Ghosty

Goodbye Ghosty, goodbye; I’ve had a stern drink and a cry
. My cursed hurricane, there’s no one left to blame
. It’s hard to conceive it a lie, so goodbye Ghosty, goodbye
Why can’t we just compromise?
. But no, then it wouldn’t be a bittersweet victory
. My heart sobs in anguish sometimes,
. So goodbye, Ghosty goodbye
We met in the fringe of Grepolis, both armies posed for war
We became friends instead, and soon a whole lot more
Even half a world away you were always on my mind
I was ready to trade it all to be with you all the time!
One thing led to another, a new world where we led our team
I was Ifflethropoles, you were the Ghost in the Machine
June was getting closer, your snapshots made it hard
Your accent stirred my deeper soul; it pulled me from the start
Fantasy and ecstasy, there was magic in the air
The anticipation crushing me was more than I could bear
You brought out the worst in me and likewise the very best
I couldn’t wait to finally hold my English thoroughbred!
The excitement of adventure climbing on that plane
A quick stop in DC then Manchester in the rain
I hopped a train to Leeds that day; you met me lookin’ your best
We barely got inside that room when you had me undressed!
Ropes and toys and the games we played behind door 10
Or the times we just bummed around in Britain’s July sun
I don’t know what happened to make you turn and run
We had everything it took, oh baby, we could have won!
Little girl plays with fire and somehow she gets burned
I don’t know what you got from me; I don’t know what you learned
But I left a bit of my heart behind that overcast summer day
I fell out of the plane with my parachute badly frayed
The things we do for love can scar you for the rest of your life
Some women that I used to know now run from me on sight
One indiscretion and you’re forever damned
But I can’t say I wouldn’t come if you extended your hand
Sanctimony doesn’t look so good on you
You say you’re not a player yet somehow I feel used
Two years of suffering to finally see the light
I may always care for you it’s something I just can't fight
So goodbye Ghosty, goodbye; think kindly of me by and by
You’re one of two women that I’ve ever been smitten
Now time just seems to creep by; Goodbye Ghosty, goodbye
I doubt that you even cried
This foolish American gave you his heart and then patiently awaits your reply
Oh Ghosty, can’t we have one more try?
